Anna (Fern) Fernands
Survivor Services Case Manager
Anna (Fern) Fernands began working with the immigrant community in 2018 at The Right to Immigration Institute, where she worked providing legal support to asylum seekers in the Boston area. This experience fueled a deep-seated passion for the immigrant community. Fernands furthered her impact on the field of immigration advocacy as the Assistant Program Manager of Adult Education at WATCH, where she developed ESL curricula and taught immigrants at various English proficiency levels. From there, Fernands worked providing pro-bono citizenship law support at the International Institute of New England, tutoring immigrants for their citizenship tests at HIAS, and volunteering on a hotline for those in ICE detention centers with the Boston Immigrant Justice Accompaniment Network. Following a stint in AmeriCorps, Fernands reentered the field of immigration advocacy with the Nationalities Service Center. In her current role as a case manager, Fernands specializes in offering crucial support to immigrant survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
